Exodus 20:16
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
In God's eyes no-one should speak or write something that untrue about someone else. It is a commandment for all to observe including politicians.
Acts 5:3
But Peter said, “Ananias, why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
Very soon after the Holy Spirit filled the believers on the day of Pentecost, a couple named Ananias and Sapphira gave a donation so they could be noticed by the early church. They made a false claim about their donation. The main issue is that they had conceived something false and deceitful in their heart and in this case, it involved money.
Ananias and Sapphira wanted to impress the people in the church without paying the price. They were prepared to lie to God. They created a plan based on hypocrisy and lying and then put it into action not only lying to the Apostle Peter but they also to the Holy Spirit.
Satan cannot fill or control believers. But He does attack and he can influence, and this will cause a lot of damage to hearts that entertain temptation.
We have to be very aware of what’s in our hearts and repent quickly when we find something that doesn’t come from God. Avoid temptation and ask God to set us free from anything that would try and hold us in bondage.
If God had ignored the sin of Ananias and Sapphira that sin would have spread and become acceptable in the church. They both died the day they carried out their plan.
The incident prompted new believers to come into the church with the holy fear of a holy God. We worship a holy God who is giving us the opportunity to walk with Him in Holiness and truth.
Acts 5:3
But Peter said, “Ananias, why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
Revelation 21:8
"But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
Make no mistake God will not tolerate liars as well as other unrighteous sinners in His kingdom. It's not alright to lie. With modern communication making more information available it has become obvious there has been a war on truth, by some politicians and some sections of the media. Christians need to be cautious about their support for politicians as God does not want us to enable sin. We all need to make the Word of God the final authority in our lives and not any form of religious or political tradition.
Revelation 21:8
"But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
Luke 11:42
But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God.
As Christians we don’t want to be called hypocrites or Pharisees. Jesus had patience for sinners but He couldn’t tolerate the Pharisees.
They made sure they tithed the smallest and most unimportant of their possessions, even their herbs but they would ignore justice and the love of God.
Jesus doesn’t want us to look the other way when we see or know of injustice like the Pharisees did. He wants us to stand with those being treated unjustly and do something.
We’ve got a responsibility to be aware of those around us and act with the love of God in our hearts. The Pharisees didn’t want to know about other people’s unjust circumstances, they passed on that. They wanted a 'spiritual' religion that ignored injustice happening around them.
Their type of false holiness excluded justice and the love of God being shown to others. Jesus condemned that and warned them of the judgement that was to come.
Justice and the love of God means we’ve got to do something for others.
Luke 11:42
But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God.
1 Corinthians 6
9 …Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
The Word of God warns us not to be deceived and says that people who behave in the ways identified in this passage will not inherit or be allowed to enter heaven. There are a lot of confused people who will be bitterly disappointed when they are excluded from the presence of God who is Love.
The Bible says homosexuality is the result of deception and lust and if a person practices that behaviour it will result in them being excluded from the Kingdom of God.
There are two very clear references in the New Testament that say that homosexual behaviour is offensive to God. The first is
Romans 1:26-27
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the nature use for what is against nature.
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in “their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due in the sight of God.
It doesn’t matter what people say homosexual behaviour is never accepted in the Bible. In God’s Word marriage can only be between men and women.
It doesn't matter who tries to explain it away the Bible says all of these behaviours ( fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers nor extortioners) will exclude a person from entrance to God's presence forever.
However all these sins can be forgiven. God will forgive whoever repents and when he forgives, He forgets.
1 Corinthians 6
9 …Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
